As I said earlier, no point letting him go in January. We’d get peanuts, and keeping him could be the difference in league positions that we’d make that money. And the upshot is, if we do end up in Europe, and the clubs interested sign other players, he might end up staying.
Absolutely no value selling him in Jan, and the club won’t do it.

We're a long way off competing with Arsenal, even with the upcoming new stadium.
They're an established Champions League team.
Lets take off the Claret and Blue specs for a minute, and forget all the PR nonsense about leading us into a new stadium etc.
If Reid is guaranteed football at Arsenal, which i think he would be looking at the competition, it's a no brainer at this moment in time.

There is no fee. His contract runs out in the summer and he moves for nothing.
As mentioned if these clubs really wanted him they would have bought him already. For them he is a solid back up for the price of a signing on fee.
His career would be best served by playing for us.

Arsenal will not win the league EVER, they may well get another FA cup, but have zero chance in the Champios league unless they spend big and Wenger seems to be pathalogically averse to doing that.
They will remain top 4 or thereabouts which is fine, but Reid may well find himself warming a bench more often than not.

I just dont see how reids career trajectory will have improved by signing for Arsenal, he may play a few champions league games but he may very well do that with us,
We can pay him basically the same as they offer as well, If he stays with us he is part of something potentially very good happening, at Arsenal he will just become another player who will probably become surplus to requirements once they get the "next big thing" in,
If they wanted him that much whay have they not got him already?

You couldn't begrudge him a move to Arsenal.
Always puts in 100% for us.
We just need to make sure we get a decent fee to be able to replace him.
If rumours of a £5million buy out clause are correct, then that is another monumental fuck up and i think we could charge anything between £10-£20million in todays ridiculous market.

Pay him or let him walk on a free.
Our season could nose dive without him back there.
He is replaceable but you have to have money and have to get it right. Look at how many players we signed trying to replace Rio Ferdinand.
Giving Reid a massive raise is still cheaper than buying a top flight CB and its not like the sale of Reid will pay for someone with his contract being up so soon.

If a club the size of Arsenal come calling then it's hard to say no to that. Regardless of where we appear to be going ourselves, they are a massive club.
Reid himself will feel that he could command a regular place in the starting line up there and it's hard to turn down an opportunity like that. He would be a big loss.

It's a real shame but our hands are tied. I reckon we will try and get a couple of million in January instead of a free at the end of the year.
We have to try and negotiate with him again in the last few weeks but we are still out with his wage demands. His agent also wanted a lot of clauses written in, which West Ham were not prepared to agree on.
Probably my favourite current player and would love him to sign another contract.

Unfortunately, a club of our size will inevitably sell it's best players to bigger sides. I just hope we get good money for him and he doesn't walk. Don't know why people are surprised at it really. Rio Ferdinand transfer is a prime example of what I'm talking about
Although we benefited from it a little early on, Bosman is bollocks.
Also, it's probably been pointed out but "fullback"?

1. He will not be contracted to West Ham.... he is running his contract down and will be a free agent
2. We won't get any money for him if he stays until May and very little if he left in Jan.
Obviously I would like him to stay but we will get as good if not better if he goes so I'm not going to lose sleep over it.
If he does leave he will live to regret going!!
